Telstra has the best reception but the most expensive. If traveling further afield than just the city or large populated areas is the only choice.  If staying in civilization Optus has good reception and prices.

Virgin Mobile isn't bad. Good reception and they're a bit cheaper plus it's a lot easier to sign up with them when you compare it with the rubbish some other companies put you through.

Telestra covers the whole of WA but they suck when it comes to value for money, vodaphone are pretty good with deals.

Apart form the Reception I would have to say Vodafone is the best...

It really depends where in the city you are going to be the most.

Vodafones reception is shocking! Their service (is sometimes bad) and pricing is ok but just dont count on vodafone if youre even a couple of kilometres out of a city.

I've heard Telstra and the 3g network is great.

Telstra is actually the best service provider of them all... It also has the coverage throughout W.A.

Overall the top 2 are Optus and Telstra, there are other like vodaphone, 3, orange but optus and telstra are the best. I'm currently with Telstra and as soon as my plan runs out I plan on changing to optus only because optus gives you more. I'm currently on a $50 a month contract - $30 for the phone $20 for extras the only extras I get are 50 free sms a month which isn't that great. With an optus cap I can still pay $50 a month but I can also get 250 free sms, free talk time with other people that have optus - so if I ring them and talk for 8 minutes it's free if there on optus and also because I have foxtel (cable) I can get that included into my bill as well as that I also have optus internet so I can get that included and get one months free internet, we already have 2 mobiles in our house with optus and we get 3 free months a year internet so overall it works out better for us. But everyone is different.

I agree with the other post don't use 3 network it was terrible. My wife now uses Optus with much better service
