  1. Best suggestion I can make is to contact a cruise line whose itinerary interests you and ask them which of their cruises/itineraries would best allow you top see the Midnight Sun and the Northern Lights.

My recommendations for cruise lines in the Baltic would be Oceania, Regent Seven Seas, or Silver Seas.  The larger cruise ships with Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Holland-America, can only make it into the major ports.  The medium size ships of the 3 lines I listed above, allow you access to ports and areas the others can't make.  When I did the Baltic, I boarded the Silverseas Silver Cloud in St. Petersburg.  It was anchored on the Neva River behind The Hermitage.

I did all my Baltic cruises in the late summer.  On the sailing from St. Petersburg to Helsinki it was still light, although dusky at 11:30 p.m.  When the sun goes down there is an incredible amount of stars and constellations to be seen.

Even in St. Petersburg, it was light until about 10:00 p.m. and the sun came up around 4:30 a.m.  Fortunately, jet lag had me up for dawn at it was so unusual - literally like an eye opening up.  A great experience.

If you'd like to discuss or if you'd like me to help you book your cruise, please don't hesitate to call at 866-485-8175.  I'm an agent, but enjoy just chatting about different places.
