  1. On your list you forgot El Sur in Málaga.... :-)

Actually the two most well known are El Pais and El Mundo. These are "national" papers, in other words they can be found anywhere in Spain.

Most of the others are regional or local, and sold generally in the areas were they are printed. (Though now one can find some of them all across the country).

As to sports newspapers the main two are El As and Marca.

Also, nowadays most have their own websites!

Sur for example, has its web page in spanish, and another in english. I presume others do so also.

  2. As a Spanish.... I can told you

El Pais is the most selled.. but have a left tendency (pro PSOE  the party in the government right now and this tendency is so clear, this newspaper belongs to Jesus de Polanco, called here Jesus del Gran Poder due to all the companies of comunication he owns )

I think the better is El Mundo, is the newspaper I read everyday.

And the best of regionalist is La Vanguardia.

You put a lot of Spanish newspapers... but national newsp. are regionalist, like El Correo de Galicia, El Faro de Vigo, El DIario Vasco, El Heraldo de Aragon, L´Avui (that is in other language not in Spanish is in Catalan ) and theres a lot of others...

I recomend you El Mundo and you can compare with El Pais.

  3. Many of the British newspapers are now printed in Spain like the Daily Mail, The Express and the Sun. They are all for sale at newsagents here. Having said that, most are at least €2 and I don´t think they are worth paying that much.

  4. It has to be El Pais.

Pais was the best newspaper during the transition and is still a world class newspaper.

Vanguardia is also good.It is the foremost Catalan paper, its British equivalents being the Scotsman and the Glasgow Herald. It is a bit old fashioned and 'molt Catala'.

Honourable mention should be given to El Periodico which gets around the Catalan problem by having both Spanish and a Catalan editions.

(You only buy the blue topped one, by mistake, once!)
