I'm looking for a ULTRA RELIABLE (because I live in a very remote area) v twin cruiser to comute 20 kms to work and back every day. 750 - 1100cc. Had a new HD in 83. Very nice ride but overpriced and not reliable at all. Any thoughts?

  1. LOL cant wait for all the HD fanatics to see that!!

Basically any of the top j*p 4 should be ultra reliable and easy enough to come by. Big market for these bikes now and its probably easier and more cost effective to buy a brand new one.

Yamaha would be the top of my list, followed by Suzuki, Honda, with Kwaka a distant last.

  2. Honda Shadow has the best reputation but they are all good. Look for later models with fuel injection.

Have a look at the Triumph range too: very classy and not Japanese: reliable injected motors.

  3. The Suzuki Savage L650S is rather nice.  Voted the best buy in 2007.

  4. I cannot answer as to which is the best as I have only driven one, but I just got a Yamaha V Star Silverado 1100 Classic.  It is used and had about 9000 miles on it but was loaded with windshield, saddle bags, roll bars, the nice seats and sissy bar.  Also loaded with lots of chrome.  I think for the money that this is one of the best bikes out there, but I can only base that on the research I did before buying, not from a riding standpoint.  The only downside is that it is air cooled and not liquid cooled.  If you are more comfortable with an liquid cooled then I would say go with a Kawasaki Vulcan.  That would have been my second choice.

  5. i recommend kawasaki 900 vulcan
