Which is the best paint out there (cost, coverage and ease of use)?

I am painting my house but not sure which paint to use. I painted one of the bedrooms last week and used Valspar Signature paint. I got good results but I had to use two coats and some effort.

- Somebody told me that Benjamin Moore is a good paint too. It is expensive thou but overall cost is less because I will need only one coat....is this true?

- How well does Behr Premium stack up against Valspar and Benjamin Moore?

- Does Benjamin Moore gives good coverage on par or better than Valspar and Behr?

I am inclined to use lighter colors on the most part (no bright colors)

All answers and thoughts are appreciated..... :-)

  1. Finger paint all the way

  2. Prep & primer are most important.  Primer should be applied as if it's going to be the final coat.  Have the primer tinted to a close match to your finish paint color.

Behr, Frazee are very good paints but beware, every brand has it "basement bargain" level.

Plan on 2 coats no matter what you use, you will like the results better.

  3. myself i painted the house , it was previousely untouched for 11 years. brutal condition. used first a stain blocker/ primer, then used sears weatherbeater. this  is a very good paint . used a exterior latex. oil paint with lead outlawed in new york state. unless your home is really pealing with bare wood showing as mine was , this sears works without a primer. look for a sale. 1 gallon goes for 17.95,  i caught a sale 9.99 a gallon. ask at your sears store when sales coming up.

  4. Behr is the best and overall cheaper with one coat
