Which is the best pet to keep other than fish in a flat?

I want a dog actually.But I own a flat on the second floor.I need something cheap,faithful,calm,friendly and obedient by nature.Not too big,not too small.Just right,and who can sit on my lap:)I don't mind any other pet but a dog would be the best.

there are several animals that would do well in a flat or apartment, a small dog or a cat..you could even try having something exotic like a snake or lizard..it's ultimatly going to be up to you, and when you do find the "perfect" companion, you'll both know it..

guinea pigs are very cuddly and sweet i have a long haired guinea pig, and its adorable!!!! if you like brushing hair get a long haired GP. its not very expensive, and e-z to take car of

a cavalier king charles spaniel!! they are a bit small, 12-18 pounds, but loyal and soo affectionate! the were bred for sitting on laps and cuddling! i love cavaliers!

i have a same problem as u i really want a dog, but since i cant have a dog at my place i started with one parakeet:) then 2 weeks later i got him a company then to them 2 i got another friend and then another, so one day i saw a beautifull cockateil so i got him too. and i was the happiest with him, we eould kiss all day long. none of my birds are ever in the cage. they are the best pets to have they keep my mind relaxed,\

but despite all the attention i was giving my cockateil i figured that he needs a friend too of his own species so i went and i got another one:)

and then i felt like i need something with furr on and i went and i got a guinea pig. im having so much fun girl.

i love every one of them the same way. they are my babys:) and they are such a happy little animals. i got my guinea pig litter trained because i got tired of her being in the cage.

none of my pets are in the cage:) i guess thats why they are so happy.

so whatever you decide u wont make  a mistake . they all can become so spoiled u wont even think about the dog:)

cats.. cozz they r very independent.. dont get lonely.. and can take care of their needs
