  1. What ever you do not sydney. My advice would be Brisbane or Melbourne. I admire you coming to Australia. We are short for nurses. If u need any domestic flights give me a yell. Im a pilot for Virgin. Good Luck.

  2. Sorry this question is asked about once a week, so instead of writing a new answer I'll give you this link:

Probably Wollongong or Newcastle in NSW, or Perth WA would suit you best, although you couldn't call Perth's climate 'mild' - very hot and sunny would be closer to the mark.

  3. Melbourne by far.

  4. SYDNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  5. Sydney but you didnt choose there.. Perth would be the best pick out of your choices, it would meet most of your needs but Sydney would be better looking at your preferences.

  6. as you are from the UK Brisbane will be too hot & humid for you

so a southern state will suit you better

  7. brisbane because it is near the gold coast

beautiful beaches, nice people and im not sure of the money stuff but any ways

good luck with your son and i hope you make a good choice

  8. Boyne Island, Queensland and work at the Gladstone Base hospital or at the Mater Private hospital. Gladstone is only 20 minute drive from here.

  9. I am from Melbourne- so I would have to say my hometown first. I was born and raised there, and found it to be an excellent pace to grow up. My parents are both nurses so I can safely say that there are lots of jobs. (Even if it is agency work-which earns more money anyway.) As for the other requirements you mentioned:

-Expensive? This depends on where you are thinking of living in Melbourne. Places like Toorak and the surrounds can be fairly expensive, as is the city. However I grew up in the suburbs and rental affordability isn't that bad. If you are looking to buy however I would have to say that housing prices have been quite expensive in the last couple of years. I have provided a link below of where to look for houses/real estate agents. (As I am renting at the moment I have used this site to find a place to live in 3 seperate states and found it very useful)

-Nice beach: St Kilda beach has had a major revamp in the last couple of years and I find it wuite enjoyable to go down and have a swim at in the Summer months with my friends. If you are looking for good surfing beaches you amy want to travel a little further however- Torquay, Bells Beach, Phillip Island.....

Weather- Melbourne can be known as a four-seasons-in-one-day kind of place. Having grown up there it never bothered me- and from opinions of my UK friends now living in Melboure- no where near as cold. Winter averages about 12-18 degrees, Summer is quite hot in the last couple of years with many days over the 35 degree mark.

Parks- Victorian license plates read above the rego numbers "Victoria- the garden state" which I think says it all. The Botanical gardens are excellent- even in the opinion of a non-gardener like me. Excellent to take a lunch, sit down and relax in.

People- I'm biased but the people in Melbourne always seem to be quite friendly. (Alot nicer than Sydney from what I have heard from my travelling friends...)

Child care- I can't really comment on this as I don't have any children. Sorry.

You mentioned Perth as well. It just so happens that I am living in Perth now- for employment reasons- and have been for the last 10 months. I have found it to be a lovely place, with friendly people. The beaches over here are lovely. (Scarborough is my favorite!)

Employment is pretty easy to come by over here becuase of the mining boom, however this in turn has affected the housing prices as there seems to be not enough properties to cope with the amount of workers moving over here.

The weather is nice in summer- however you shold be warned that it gets pretty d**n hot- temperatures were hitting the high 30's low 40's this summer.

As for the parks- there are a few nice ones- Kings parkin particular.

Perth, compered to Melbourne, is a small city- which can be slightly annoying sometimes with the business hours etc (not much is open on Sundays and everything closes early.)

I haven't been to Brisbane so I can't really comment there. But I hope that I have helped you with Melbourne and Perth.

    www.realestate.com.au

is the website I have used numerous times to find a place to live. Its very informative and has links to most of the Australian real estate agents.

    Good Luck with the move!
