Plum Valley... it is very good. Great standard of food, very clean, and the decor is lovely!

The best restaurant in China Town, though perhaps not the best Asian restaurant in London, is Haozhan, which recently opened on 8 Gerrard Street.

The clean, chic and modern interior makes a refreshing change from many restaurants in the area, as does the attentive and well-informed service.

Dishes are imaginative and carefully put together, without being fussy, and range from innovative items such as coffee spare ribs and lotus and asparagus salads to more traditional offerings of Peking Duck and Wagyu beef.

While the quality of the meat dishes is consistently excellent, some of the tofu based concoctions may seem a little bland to Western palates.

Dinner for two including appetisers, dessert, wine and service should average around £70, which really is excellent value for the quality of food on offer. The chili quail and Mongolian Beef come highly recommended.

If you are looking for a more traditional, kitsch 'Chinese Restaurant' experience, try the Golden Dragon, also on Gerrard Street: the food is solid and well priced, and the service is faithful to the entertainingly abrupt Cantonese style.

London China town is rubbish. Go to the one in Manchester and eat at the best Chinese restaurant in the UK- the Yang Sing.
