I would say that www.ancestry.co.uk is by far the best web site for UK records. Genesreunited in my opinion is rubbish.

I have done loads of genealogy research and I have subscribed to both Genes reunited and ancestry.co.uk.  Both are good sites in different ways.

Ancestry has a lot of records that are really easy to search, you can then attach those records to the relevant person in your tree.  What's even better is that the site will take information from that record and update the details you have recorded against that person.

Genes reunited has an awful lot of subscribers and so I have found that a lot more people get in touch about possible connections.   All my best contacts with distant family have come from Genes reunited.

So really it depends on what you want from the site.  Contact with actual family, then go for Genes reunited, Millions of records (Births, Marriages, Census etc) then Ancestry is the way to go.

Ancestry is best for reaserching documents but Genes is best for contacting other members who share information with your tree, so you can build your tree quicker and chat with new family members.

Genes is more fun where as Ancestry is for the more serious researcher.
