For what?  In my opinion the best street is Beira Mar.  There are many good places to eat and nice hotels.  In the late afternoon there is an open-air market (west end?) with local handcrafts and other items.  The beach along this area is not good for swimming, but there are many bars where you can have fresh seafood, cold beer and people watch.  The area is pretty safe until 8 or 9pm.
