  1. You will really need to take mortgage documents with you. the POUND is a currency that for some reason converts other currencies into worthless value

  2. Food rule: avoid West End & Covent Garden restaurants and all chain pubs.  Only exception is Chinatown - but they can make you feel hurried, just window shop first, you can see through to the diners a lot of the time.  Ditto for Brick Lane Indian restaurants but you must ignore the "callers" pulling you in to their restaurants, just ignore them all and they won't bother you.

  3. probably the RITZ

  4. Savoir Faire 42 New Oxford Street, Bloomsbury. Dine there regularly. French food at brasserie prices, has an excellent budget Lunch time menu and is good value all the way through.

  5. Try the Thai Silk Restaurants, they have one in Southwark, Waterloo & Kennington. They do a set lunch for £5.95 and an early evening special from 5pm to 7pm for £7.95. Loads to eat and great food as well. Waterloo and Soiuthwark are absolutely jammed most of the time but it's worth the short wait to get a table.

The Southwark branch has a big bar and a massive outside seating area, that is very sunny (when the suns out), they have big big umbrellas with heating if its cold or drizzly.

Plus they are about to open in early August at the 02 with a double decker restaurant & Bar which will also have a simulated Golf Course room to play in.

  6. The Stockpot in Pantene Street, my friend and i went there recently, we both had a main course and a pudding i had a bottle of lager and she had a bottle of mineral water, the whole meal came to £16!!  Very good food and very good value too!!
