The best water fall near Mumbai is Chinchoti Water falls in Thane District.

One can reach the above place in the following manners:

By  Car – W.E. Highway to Dahisar Check Naka, NH8 to Kaman junction. Approx. 45 Min. from North Mumbai.

Rail & Bus– Niagoan Station (Western Railway) – from Naigoan East outside the railway station share Autos are available, per head they charge around Rs.10/- It only takes 20min. to reach Kaman Junction.

Vasai Station – S.T. Buses are available to reach Kaman Junction.

Lonavala, Khandala and Matheran (2 hrs from mum) are hill stations to be enjoyed any time. In August it would be perfect with rain and cold. Mahabaleshwar is little far at 6 hrs.

Beaches like Alibag, Aksa, Kihim are again at 2 hrs. Harihareshwar, Ganpatipule at 6 to 8 Hrs. In Aug it might be a little wet.

Lots of forts to trek in any season too. in Aug they would be beautiful green and an absolute soothing for the eyes.
