  1. Hi! How to Reach Dharamsala by Air: There is no airport within the city of Dharamsala. The most convenient airport is Amritsar (200kms). Although Dharamsala is located in the state of Himachal Pradesh it is actually close to the state border of Punjab. Several airlines operate regular flights to Amritsar from cities like Delhi, Mumbai and so on.

How to Reach Dharamsala by Road: A god network of roads connects

Dharamsala with many prominent cities and tourist destinations such as:

    Chandigarh (239kms), Amritsar (200kms), Delhi (514kms), Shimla

(322kms), Dalhousie (55kms) etc. You can also reach Dharamshala by bus from Delhi.

    By Car:-

    START at New Delhi

Start outer Ring Road towards GT Karnal Road

Turn right on NH 1 – proceed towards Ambala (199.76 Km)

At Ambala, change to NH 22 – towards Chandigarh (50 Km)

At Chandigarh, change to NH 21 – towards Ropar (40 Km)

Continue on NH 21 – towards Kiratpur (23 Km)

At Kiratpur, take SH 22 – towards Una (54 Km)

At Una, take the state road towards Kangra (114 Km) via Pragpur

At Kangra, continue on the state road – towards Dharamshala (20 Km)

    End at Dharamshala.

    Thank you!

  2. Dharamshala and Mcleodgunj ( Upper Dharamshala ) are in Himachal Pradesh state.

Pathankot is the nearest rail head for Dharamshala. From Pathankot Bus Depot a bus ride will take you to Dharamshala in about 3.5 hours. Bus travel is much crowded and wastes lots of time due to various intermittent stops.

From Delhi ISBT you can get direct buses to Dharamshala. You can book tickets in advance, too. Late evening bus will take you to Dharamshala in the mornings. For Mcleodgunj, you can hop onto local buses ( about 10 kms - 35 minutes travel ). People prefer Mcleodgunj as Hon Dalai Lama and many of the tibetan institutes are located there.

  3. no idea but d person above me is right i suppose so try tht out..

  4. train from delhi to pathankot and then buses to dharam shala.

or direct buses from ISBT, delhi to dharamshala
