  1. Amtrak goes from Montreal to New York, and probably to NJ too.

Voyageur-Greyhound Bus lines offers service that way too.

If all you are concerned about is the cost, then bus will be cheapest (well, technically hitchhiking will be cheapest, but...)

But for me, time is usually more important than the cost. If I have to pay $129 instead of $99 but I get there two hours faster, you can bet I'll spend the extra $30.

I am saying this because if you are the same way, I would suggest you at least compare the cost for bus vs train to see how much of a saving it is compared to how much extra time it will take.

  2. You can catch Greyhound buses from Port Authority in NYC which will get you up to Montreal in about 8-9 hours depending on traffic. I believe the fare varies (if you're a student or senior, it can be cheaper), but it's roughly $140-150 round-trip.

You can get there by Amtrak (on its Adirondack route) from Penn Station in NYC, but surprisingly, the train takes much longer than the bus because of a two-hour wait at the border to clear immigration. The trip takes a total of a little over 10 hours. This is the cheapest option though. One way, the trip is $61 (Mon-Thurs and Sat) or $65 (Fri-Sun).

Obviously, flying is the most expensive option. Air Canada and Continental operate direct flights from Newark Airport. US Airways operates direct flights from PHL. Last I checked, flights range from $300-500 round-trip for a weekend trip.

  3. theres cheap flights on this site go to the flights link and the west jet link and the vacation packages u.s. link to compare prices from 3 different search engines.  greyhound is probably cheaper just takes alot longer  http://redhotescapes.com/

  4. From past experience (and I'm talking from quite a few years ago) the cheapest way is by bus......With all the deals offered today, it is hard to keep track of all of them..........

    Good luck.
