  1. ANY Red wine goes with meats. White wine goes with fish. But you drink whatever wine you like with whatever you're eating.

  2. Zinfandel or Cabernet Sauvignon

If you find a really spicy Syrah, that will work nicely.

  3. It is a very personal choice. You will be eating it not the experts.

But, my favorites are Ridge Monte Bello and Pichon-Longueville because the meat has the effect of making them taste at their peak.

  4. Traditionally Merlot and Cab Sav, although any spicy red will work (Claret, Cab Franc, etc). It depends somewhat on what you're serving with the steak, how you cook the steak (sauces and spices, for example) and your personal tastes.

I like Cab Savs because they compliment how I generally cook my steak: medium with no sauce and some peppery spices.

  5. Any red wine will do.

  6. A high-fat food, something with a lot of animal fat, butter or cream, usually calls out for an equally rich, intense, structured and concentrated wine.  Here's where a well-balanced red wine with tannin, such as a good quality cabernet sauvignon or merlot, works wonders.  A powerful California cabernet sauvignon with a grilled steak is pretty hard to beat,

The same principle is at work when a Bordeaux wine (made primarily from cabernet sauvignon and merlot) is served with roasted lamb

  7. It depends on how you are grilling your steak. if you are going plain with just some spice then Cabernet(California or Australian) is the perfect match . However, if you use bbq sauce the tanginess will mess with the cab and it would taste much better with a shiraz (Australian )

  8. Traditionally, red wine with red meat.  Heavy red meat like steak - a good syrah (shiraz), or cab sauvignon.  Dang, now I want that dinner!
