Which is the better brand for DSLR camera?

Olympus has the smallest sensors.

Sony is then new kid on the block, so has fewer lenses, new or used.

Canon can use all the Canon lenses made since 1987

Nikon can use most of the Nikon lenses made since 1959.

Then there is the quality of the images made by the cameras

Only Nikon and Canon have full frame sensors at this time.

I would suggest you go into a camera store and try out both the Nikon and Canon DLSR's and see which you like the best and fits your hands best.

Then there is of course the cost of ownership.

At present the most bang for the buck is the D40 with a 15-55 mm AF-S ED lens for under $470 at Amazon
