Which is the better buy?

Question

Ive been shopping around and Ive narrowed my search down to 2 different sub setups for my car. One possible setup is having a single 12" Alpine which is about 100 bucks http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-KFC-W3011-12-4-ohm-subwoofer/dp/B000N2N24G/ref=sr_1_2/105-4886719-7995646?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1213065809&sr=1-2 . If I bought the alpine would I need a ported box? Is the single alpine a better buy than two kenwood subs for the same price? Just some other stuff about the subs, the alpine is 750 watt rms and the kenwoods are 400 rms each. Im still new to car audio so any help is greatly appreciated!

alpines r def the better sub any day o the week but if money is an issue check out some other brands on ebay  one good brand for the money is powerbass thay have a set on the ebayright now i just looked it up pbx series 10in dvc 500rms per sub90 bucks shipped just put powerbass subs on ebay search and scroll down till you see them  or check out craigslist you might find a good deal onused ones by the way that was 90 bucks for both subs and shipping

trust me, get the alpine subwoofers, kenwood subs do not last much, and the alpine is a serious bass competitor compared to kenwood. My buddy has two alpines(the ones you like), and those are tooooo nice sounding, I would rather get one of the alpines, than two kenwoods any day, you will be thankful later. I own two 12"rockford fosgates, and people try to compete with my set up, and only these alpines my friend has sound even close to mine.

i havn't personally heard the alpine, but my friend has got the exact 2 kenwood subwoofers in his trunk with a 1000 watt amp runnin 500 watts mono to each, and let me tell ya, they f'in bump. for the price, these subs are a steal. go with the Kenwoods!!
