Which is the better camera, GL2 or VX2000?

Canon GL2, or Sony VX2000? I'm a senior in highschool and i'm about to go off to college next year for video production at Fredonia State. I'm looking to get a camera and these two are around the same price and seem about the same quality. Anyone have opinions?

As the previous poster says..it's down to your own preference as to the look of the footage really. Apart from that you might find that the durability of the camera is a factor in your case going to college. The GL2..or XM2 as they are here are known as pretty sturdy cams. A lot of the early Jackass was shot on the GL1 cams.

At the end of the day it's a good idea to get your hands on them and try them out if you can..and talk to users. I personally prefer the Canon cameras in this bracket, both for operation and the footage qualities.

the main difference is the glass.  It depends what look you want.  The lens is the most important thing.  Go into a camera store and try both out, they should have one or two on display.  The sony will have a bit more of a blue tint on the picture, the Canon is a bit warmer with a red hue.

It all depends on what you like.  I personally lean more towards the Canon because I like Canon lenses a bit better.
