I want to buy a camera and am trying to decide between two Fujifilm cameras, one with 12mp and 3x optical zoom and the other with 8mp and 5x optical zoom.

  1. I'd go for the zoom.

Unless you're looking to print large, don't worry about mega pixels.

Alot of pixels on a camera often means more noise (grain in your shots).

Manufactures like to cram more MPs into cameras because it's a selling point with consumers (not sure why...). But if you're shooting small it's best to avoid the MP hype.

  2. 12  megapixels

  3. The higher the MP the bigger the picture will be. With 12 MP im guessing they will turn out to be really big once put onto the computer..which can get kind of annoying.

Id say go with the 8MP one.

  4. If all other things are equal, I'd go for the zoom. Anything over 5mp is all you need to get good, quality photos at all common print sizes. Unless you're blowing the images up to poster size you won't need the 12mp. Optical zoom, on the other hand, is a really nice thing to have.

  5. depends on what is more important to you..i personally would go for the one with better zoom, because 8 mp is good enough for my need and the zoom, as i often find, is somewhat useful as you can get better picture from a distant
