I am buying my first system and didnt want any super expensive fancy head unit so ive narrowed my search down to two stereos. One is a pioneer that matches the lighting screen in my car http://www.amazon.com/Dual-Electronics-XHD6425-Car-Stereo/dp/B000VPC44O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1215107663&sr=1-1 . Which do you think I should buy? Will these hook up to an amp and subs ok? Also will these make my stock system sound better?

  1. I've always had better luck with Pioneer.  They seem sturdier, and their FM tuners are more sensitive.  They're usually priced pretty competively too.

Make sure you get the most watts you can afford, even if you don't intend to use them. Your amp will not have to work as hard, generate as much heat, or wear out as quick.

  2. Pioneer makes some of the best headunits.

Dual makes some of the worst.

  3. pioneer by far.. as long as they have the pre out outlets in the back you can hook ur subs up to it with no problem. The more power you have runnin to your speakers the louder it will be, most are 45w x 4. Thats plenty of power for stock speakers. Oh and you may want to get one with at least 2 pre outs if you want to eventually put subs in it.
