Im getting a nachelors in psych and im trying to figure out which route to take. I was just wondering which job overall is or the pros and cons of each like pay, working conditions and job availability. I know i would need at least a masters for both and that is fine, Im just not sure about going all the way for a doctorate. Also im a social services assistant right now so i some experience in that field.

  1. There's alot of shortages of social workers. Chances are, you could very easily find an opening. Plus, you already had an experience.

  2. There is a lot of information like what you are asking for in the government's Occupational Outlook Handbook.

Personally, I think neither job pays all that well considering the length of education needed, and other factors like job pressure.  Social workers in particular seem quite prone to burnout.  (I considered both of these careers at one time, a long time ago, and  I have known people in both careers.)
