  1. They are made in the same plant. What name would you like stamped on your new rifle?

BTW: The Weatherby will always have a higher resale value because of the name.

  2. They are actually the same gun with minor cosmetic differences. Both are good. If I'm buying, I'll go for the cheaper one. Both guns are made in Japan by Howa.

  3. James is correct, they both use the same barreled actions. The main cosmetic difference is the stock --- do you want a "weatherby" style (from what looks to be a bell and carlson...I may be wrong) or a straight stock from Hogue (or a laminate thumbhole from Boyds)?

The following is something to consider.

Weatherby has a vangaurd and a sub-moa vanguard (that will shoot 1" @ 100). My understanding is they take the cream of the crop from the regular vanguard series and sell those for more money.

What's that leave you --- a regular vanguard that may not shoot that well because many of the goods ones have already been picked through. You might be able to find good ammunition that Weatherby did not try in their tests and you might get real lucky.

You may be better off with a Howa lightning because those have not been picked through. You couldn't do any worse than a regular vanguard but you could do a whole lot better. But the Vanguard stocks do have the style points....

  4. my answer would have been the same as James b/c he is 100% correct

  5. weatherby vangaurd

  6. Go the weatherby
