  1. they are the same . grandmaster /sinfu/sumbunim/sensi. sandman.

  2. sifu in vietnamese is master.

EDIT= SMITIMB, ur answer sounds better.

  3. Sifu = coach, sensei, instructor, etc. and defines leadership in martial arts.

Master = senior, expert, advanced, etc. and defines the highest level of proficiency in martial arts.

Most Sifus would be Masters, and most Masters would also teach.

  4. Sifu is the word for master or teacher in Mandarin Chinese. It is also pronounced "shifu" by many English speakers.

  5. they are pretty much the same thing

  6. Sifu is a teaching position, generally* requiring one to be a master....

Master is a term that defines one who has mastered an art... Many go on to teach others but as many do not.

So therefore, all Sifus are Masters but not all Masters are Sifus

*I say generally because although I can't think of any position where it would be otherwise. However I'm not discounting the possibility.

  7. Sifu means teacher. Master is a teacher of teachers. Think of a head master of a school.
