Which is the faster way to reach the opposite side of earth : along the rotation of earth or in the opposite?

Just need to know under ideal conditions if i start from some point above the earth surface, in the atmosphere to go to the oppisite side of earth above the equator line, which will be the faster way: going along the rotation of earth or going in the opposite direction , at starting point my relative velocity to earth surface is zero

  1. It makes no difference because the atmosphere also rotates with earth. It is as good as moving in a train.


  2. You share the rotational speed of the Earth.  It makes no difference, as long as you are in the atmosphere, which direction you go.   Things can get a bit more complicated if you change altitude enough to get above the atmosphere.

  3. If the Earth is spinning in the opposite direction you are traveling, then you will have to travel a shorter distance to reach a point  on the opposite side of the earth
