My husband and I are going to Rome for Christmas, connecting through Milan and we have a bit more than 3 hours to get to Bergamo after we land in Malpensa airport. We did not realize the 2 airports we so far away from each other when we bought the tickets and now we are concerned that we might end up missing our second flight, since we will be landing at 6:40 p.m. on Friday 22 Dec. (rush hour from what we've read so far) and we might not have enough time to go through Milan via public transportation. We are desperate, since we would not want to end up paying much more than we paid for the palne tickets for a taxi, but we also don't want to miss our plane. Any advice??? Thanks!!

  1. There aren't many options, really...as it is the last friday before Christmas, chances are the traffic is going to be really bad. You could take the train to Milano (not affected by the traffic) and then the bus from there, but it will be a close call. Taking a taxi won't make things much easier, as the taxi has to go through the same roads the public transportation uses. 6.40 PM is really the end of rush hour, so it could be a bit better. Another option could be to rent a really small car and drive yourself to Bergamo. It would be probably cheaper than the taxi. Or you could contact a car with driver service agency at Malpensa and agree on a set fare for the transfer.

  2. the cheapest and faster way is to take a train Malpensa-Milan-Bergamo. take about 2 +1/2 hours.  Try to know what is named the airport in Bergamo and then check train details in TRENITALIA (internet)

don't get lost with public transports

  3. There is the train from Malpensa, Malpensa Express which will take you to the Cadorna Train station in Milan, then immediately take the subway (go downstairs immediately after exiting the train but first buy tickets at the newspaper stand), take the green line (line 2) direction gessate for 5 stops, exit at Centrale.  There is a bus from Centrale to Bergamo, which takes about an hour.
