  1. The ABs scored the most points ever (1995) in a WC beating Japan 145-17, but the Aussies have the biggest margin, beating Namibia in the 2003 WC 142-0. I don't think we'll see any scores reaching the 140 margin this year.

  2. i thought all soccer games ended 0-0 or 1-0

  3. The heaviest defeat in World Cup history is the 142 points suffered by Namibia.  Australia scored those points when it defeated Namibia on 24 October 2003.

Australia got 22 tries in that match and that is the most tries scored by any team in any World Cup match.

I do not believe we will see such a margin in 2007, for the so called minnows are better skilled and the Top teams tend not to play all their top players against such teams.

  4. oii expat, come to my face and say geek!

you wont know what hit you fool.

  5. its not world cup qualifiers egg

  6. Man,

You need to be pretty specific when asking this type of question.

Answers so far are correct for RWC finals matches but what about World Cup qualifying matches?  Are these still World Cup games?

If so in 2002 in Tokyo, Japan beat Chinese Taipei 155 - 3 making winning margin 152,  also, in 1994 Hong Kong beat Singapore 164 - 13 in the Asian RWC qualifying tournament making the margin 151 points both of these beating the Australians 142 point margin over Namibia.

I don't think any scores at the 2007 RWC finals will beat these previous records.

  7. Initially I thought it was NZ v Japan but I have a little voice in the grey matter saying it was Australia v Japan.

I know NZ did get a high score bit I think Australia went higher.

    Dont know what year.

Dont think any scores this year will get that high.

  8. All Blacks versus Japan 145-17 in South Africa June 1995.

  9. New Zealand beat Japan by 145...14, not sure which year, may have been 1999 ????

    Sixteen try`s were scored.

Two records were set, Marc Ellis scored six try`s

    Simon Culhaine scored , 45 points ( ? )

  10. The biggest defeat I think was between the All Blacks and Japan in the world cup in 1995.  145 to 17.  As for there being a result as high this year, no I don't think so.

  11. it was Australia who Beat Namibia 142-Nil at the 2003 World Cup.

  12. 143 to 3

  13. Not biggest wining margin but the heaviest defeat would be when Australia beat New Zealand in 1999(I think.) world cup with george grean standing over the all blacks saying 4 MORE YEARS

  14. The highest score was 145 by New Zealand against Japan in 1995, but as Japan scored 17 points, that is not the biggest margin.

That distinct goes to Australia who beat Namibia 142-nil in 2003.

Well we have had 108-18 by New Zealand over Portugal so far. There are two possible matches that could exceed this. Australia -v- Canada on Saturday 29th or (less likely) New Zealand -v- Romania two hours earlier.

Such is the rivallry that Australia will want to end the pool stages with more points scored than New Zealand. At present Australia are 46 behind, so they will want to post a cricket score after New Zealand have left the field!

  15. The All Blacks versus Japan in WC 1995. All Blacks 145; Japan 0

  16. Warning - geek central - now I know why I left New Zealand!

  17. The biggest winning margin was set by Australia in 2003 racking up 142 points to nil against Namibia.

The most points scored in a world cup game is 145 set by the All Blacks vs Japan at the 1995 tournament.

The All Black - Romania clash in the final pool match for the Boys in Black may offer them the opportunity to eclipse the record. Watch this space

  18. 142-0 Aussie over Namibia 2003 RWC.

All Blacks have the highest score in test Rugby with a 145-17 win over Japan (1995) in what is called the "Bloemfontein massacre",

    where Ellis scored 6 tries.

  19. This question is stupid.  It doesn't even state what game it is talking about.  I know we are on the Rugby issue but i can't see it stating RUGBY WORLD CUP.  If so then it would be NZ & Japan 145-17 because this was during the Rugby World Cup not the qualifing stages.  But if you went the biggest Margin that would belong to Aussie & Namibia 142-donut.

  20. The biggest winning margin in RWC history to date was on 25/10/03 when Australia slaughtered Namibia 142-0.

The All Blacks scored 145 - the Japanese 17 points in 95, but that doesn't compare to Namibia not even going over the try line!  Apart from kicking off, lineouts & scrums, did Namibia even touch the ball?
