  1. Usually the criteria that people say is height above sea level. The answer is, of course, Mt. Everest.

    However, if all the water evaporated off the planet, the highest mountains (peak to base) would be in Hawaii.

    Nepal is a sovereignty country, while Tibet is right now still a province of China. So Nepal is not Tibet and the summit of Mt Everest is within the Chinese territory of the province of Tibet, not in Nepal.

  5. Mount Everest is the highest.  This is on grounds of it being higher above sea level than any other mountain.  It's not actually the tallest when measured from base to peak.  That one would be in Hawaii, and most of it's under the sea.
