  1. Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanocon...  45 letters  amy other word longer is not in dictionary

  2. Methionylthreonylthreonylglutaminylargin...

It is the name of a compound called titin and the full name is about189,000 letters.

  3. i know it is something like "micro........" something something

  4. OMG, that word really sucks!!!!

  5. there are alot of long words! im not sure if anybody actually knows what the longest one is.

  6. There is one word with 189,819 letters, however since it is a chemical name and only listed in a couple of obscure and large technical dictionaries, I don't think it constitutes a real word.  The largest word listed in most major dictionaries is pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanocon... so it is arguably a common word, however I think it is disqualified in this case because it was in fact only invented because an opportunity was seen to create the longest word ever.

The traditional answer is antidisestablishmentarianism, which is a word somehow connected to Anglicanism and breaking off from the Catholic Church, I think.  I think that this is the only really common and genuine longest word, excluding place names.  So I would say antidisestablishmentarianism.  It is very fun to break it down and try to work out what it means!

  7. The longest word in English depends upon the definition of what constitutes an English word. English allows new words to be formed by construction; long words are coined; place names may be considered words; technical terms may be arbitrarily long. Length can be in terms of orthography and number of written letters or phonology and the number of phonemes.

  10. it's "the longest"

but actually such question is not very meaningful because most of the given words are compound words, they consist of several prefixes

the majority of them are biological, political and chemical terms which have no daily usage

therefore such almost artificial length gives no real amusement

  11. Longest word :

    pneumonoultramicroscopic-

    silicovolcanoconiosis

It is a 45-letter word supposed to refer to a lung disease, but research has discovered that this word was originally intended as a hoax. It has since been used in a close approximation of its originally intended meaning, lending at least some degree of validity to its claim.
