  1. The concensus among informed people and scientists is that Global Warming is real, it is man-made, and it is getting worse. Conspiracy Theorists are generally uninformed and are pursuing a political or economic agenda of their own.

  2. It is not matter of opinions, Global Warming is a fact scientifically proved. People is taking it as if it was some sort of Prophecy or discussing whether it will happen or not.

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the closest surface of the Earth the air and the oceans and it's been growing since the middle of last century and implies a human influence.

The North Pole has been frozen for 100,000 years. But according to scientists, that won't be true by the end of this century. The top of the world is melting. Right now the entire planet is out of balance. In fact, 98 percent of the world's mountain glaciers are melting.

It all points to something that has changed and something that has impacted the system which wasn't doing it more than 100 years ago. And we know exactly what it is. It's human activity.

It's activity like burning fossil fuels, releasing carbon dioxide and other gases.

Even if we stopped using every car, truck, and power plant stopping all greenhouse gas emissions the planet would continue to warm anyway. Enough to melt the Arctic. The ice that's melting already is changing the weather by disrupting ocean currents.

  3. I'm in TX and hardly anybody talks about it-when they do, they blurt out some ill-informed trash like 'Volcanoes emit more CO2 than humans!'

On here, I've found that the more insightful, educated answers are from AGW believers...I'm a 'layperson' myself so I don't always follow what they're saying but I can understand the basics. Volcanoes emit CO2 but they also emit a ton of other gases that 'cancel' each other out (read about the climate change from Krakatoa 1816-it was freezing that year!) They claim Mars is warming. My understanding is that it is creating several 'dust bowl' areas that are dark, therefore, absorbing more heat-

The toposphere is not warming even though the atmosphere is...

My main question is, how could we have such a huge population that uses some form of CO2 constantly, unlike any other time in the past, not have an effect on climate change?

  4. one volcano spews more CO2 into the air than man EVER has or will in the next 100 years The human footprint is negligible but that doesn't men we shouldn't be good stewards

  5. Do you mean people with credentials or the average person on the street?  What I understand-as do all of the reasonable people with whom I have spoken, credentialed or not-global warming is influenced by mankind, but the extent to which our activities contribute to it is uncertain.  The main concern is that humans will influence it 'just enough' to push us over the edge and accelerate whatever natural processes may be occurring.  I don't have any statistically valid polls that will verify my belief, but for what it is worth, I think this is where the majority of people stand on the topic.

Any other outlook is simply opinion and has no real and verifiable scientific basis at this point.  Whether the proven data is actionable or not is some matter of scientific debate that has been politicized.  Regardless, good stewardship of the environment is imperative and should be one of our very first priorities.

  6. Depends who you ask.  It is a natural phenomena that is helped slightly by humans.

  7. Co2 levels increase  folowing a natual increase in planetary temperature. It hasnt been helped by humankind, but we are not the main contributors, we produce a tiny fraction of the co2 produced by the worlds volcanos

  8. The majority of people and the vast majority of scientists agree that the current warming is mostly man-made.  See the link below for proof.

  9. Everybody that knows the basics understands it certainly has a natural component.  The extent of man's contribution is not known.  It may not be significant and certainly doesn't seem to be harmful, despite the hype from alarmists.

  10. Read this:

  11. 70 MILLION TONS!!! of CO2 is pumped into our planet's appleskin thin atmosphere by MAN -EVERY DAY!!!!!!!!

CO2 is a  strong greenhouse gas.

THIS IS THE CAUSE of GWarming!

NASA says GW is man-made. NASA sent us to the moon! But some skeptics dont even believe that. Some of these morons still believe the earth is flat in fact.

Go to school, get educated. The Trillion dollar Fossil fuel industry sheisters are everywhere trying to confuse the uneducated masses. Get educated. Science is real and GW is real.

Dont believe the crackpots. Most are over 60 and dont CARE if the earth boils because THEYLL BE DEAD ANYWAY in 20 years. If you're young, you should be very very concerned about GWarming.

  12. The first link below is the best survey, of people, by country.

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_...

    http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/fu...

EVERY major scientific organization has issued an official statement that this is real, and mostly caused by us.  The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Association, etc.

Note that volcanoes emit less than 1% of what Man does.  Proof:

  13. its actually man made.

the data collected over the years suggests that our activities are the main reason for the increase in temperature which affects our climate and subsequently the whole ecosystem.

the fumes from cars and other motor vehicles(like carbon dioxide or co2, and carbon monoxide or co),also smoke from factories, burning of wood and other items like tyre and similar carbon compounds all cause pollution.

also watervapour too cause global warming.it is because water vapour increases the green house gases in the atmosphere.

glaciers in the arctic circle are melting day by day,and scientists have found  alarmingly high rates of co2 in the glaciers of the antarctic.

these green house gases prevent the heat from escaping from the atmosphere thereby causing increase in global temperature.so there is no doubt that global warming is caused by human activities rather than natural causes.
