crazy dog - well you make an interesting point, because I have also just asked another question in 'cats' because I used to think that cats only liked you when they're hungry, but my cat is always smooching round me even if she is not hungry, so therefore, is she doing this just out of pure affection?

  1. Dogs are by far

  2. dogs! You never see a seeing eye cat!

  3. Dogs without a doubt. They give unconditional love. Cats only like you when they're hungry.

A dog will lay its life down for its human, a cat will not.

  4. i would say dogs, they are loyal and Will protect their owners no matter what the cost, yes cats can be just as loving but my friend who owns cats always said to me you can never own a cat they choose who they want to stay with, if a cat does not like where it lives it can go to another house, cats are free spirits, a dog will put up with lots of abuse and still stay loyal to its owner a cat will take off if it can if it gets an owner who is cruel, cats can be loving there's no doubt but with the domesticated issue i still have to go with dogs

  5. Dogs definitely.  The cat isn't domesticated, it's just that they decided long ago that they could coerce humans into providing warmth, shelter, food and comfort for them.  Why put yourself out if you can con someone else into doing it for you?

That's why it is said that dogs have owners, cats have staff.

  6. This depends on what you see as 'domestication.'

It is likely that dogs became 'domesticated' before cats.  Dogs are natural scavengers, and probably prehistorically they learnt that if they attached themselves to a group of humans, they could eat the bones that the hunter humans didn't eat.  This became a symbiotic relationship, because the dogs would clear away the rubbish left by the human hunters by eating the bones and, to protect their food source, the dogs would appear to be protecting the humans.

The cat is naturally a hunter - and this is still evident from the cats that will bring home a dead mouse or bird to add to the family fund!  They do their bit.

Now, this makes me wonder if you meant to use the word 'domestic' or 'tame.' ( from the word 'timid').  Both species are now equally domestic - but certainly the dog is more tame than the cat.  But this is probably because, being a scavenger, he is relying on you to hunt for or provide his food.

The cat smooching around you?  Passing its mouth around your leg or hand or whatever?  Well, cats have scent glands around their mouths - and your cat is not being affectionate - it is simply marking you with its scent so that all other cats know that you belong to him or her.

  7. I have a cat and a dog so I don't really see the difference

  8. Hi!! A dog every time far outweighs a cat for training, is far more loyal. Always entertaining, will need some "walkies" and that will give you exercise to help keep you fit. A Jack Russell is a nice breed, or a Scottie. I had a Scottie for 14 years a wonderful experience.

Make sure though that you get one from a reputable breeder, and even then go immediately and register with a vet, and have the dog looked over.

    I still have 2 dogs Dan-die Din-monts,1 pepper and 1 mustard .

Go to it and enjoy them.
