Indian cities are unique in there own way.so its hard to pin point on one single city. Today India both Modern and ancient cities. so it all depends on what your out look is. If you are looking at a Modern metropolis  then Bangalore Stands out. If you would like to be in a small quite city look at Almora in Uttarakand,Its a town rather.Leh is another quite town yet beautiful.

Difficult to say as beauty is in the eye of the beholder so you will get all different answers.  My own personal favourite is Jaipur, loved all the culture and architecture plus amazing street markets.

Bangaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, we have travelled to all these cities. None of the cities can be called beautiful. I agree with KKavi, Munnar in Kerela is very beautiful. It is surrounded by tea garden (mostly owned by Tata tea) and beautiful mountains. It is amazing clean too. I would vote for Munnar.

Every city is unique in India with one thing or other as their special, If you go to South you will find lot of cities with  Temples, Scenic beauties for Example Madurai, Trichy,  Mysore, etc.

If you talk about nature you have Kerala, Goa, Ooty, Katmandu, Bangalore, etc..,

Historic monuments, etc : Jaipur, Mysore, Kashmir, U.P (Taj Mahal), etc

Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Coimbatore, Delhi are nice with commercial specialites.*

I agree with Anirudh. Chandigarh is the most beautiful and planned city in India. Bangalore may be beautiful,but not planned. Chandigarh is well planned. One cannot see petty shops any where but only in shopping area. Heavy commercial vehicles are not allowed during day time into the city. Roads are very broad and clean with large traffic islands.Traffic well regulated. It is the capital for both Punjab and Hariyana states,contrary to J&K  state which has two capitals,a summer capital, Srinagar and a winter capital, Jammu.

mumbai is different.. ( not very beautiful in sense of green city but experience once.)
