  1. The first city that came to mind is Florence, but is also quite expensive living there, so you could try some well known but smaller city like Siena, Livorno, Empoli in Tuscany

A little northern (Emilia Romagna) Parma or Bologna (or nearby).

Cities in Piedmont like Biella, Alessandria, Novara or Casale are (at least outside of Italy) really underrated, although often on the top of charts for better quality of living.

What I can suggest you, since your goal is learning Italian "full immersion" is choosing a city or town in North or Center of Italy, because in Southern people are way more used to talk the local dialect, on everyday life (although everybody do know Italian). In northern Italy is more common talking regular Italian with a local "cadence", rather than a dialect.

  2. I would say Florence is the most beautiful especially if you want to study there because the University in Florence is one of Europe's top University, full of students from every corner of the world. The town is amaizing

  3. come to Sicily; here is the place we can teach you how to operate casino, money laundering and all illegal and lucerative stuffs.

it's the one and only open university.

  4. Amalfi coast is Belisimo. Nothing quite like Venice though.....Then again Florence is very nice...... I will go back again and tell you for sure.

    City beauty: Florence.

    Culture : Rome

    Relax: Sorrento

    Dining: Venice

    Coolest little town: Taromina Sicily

Where my heart is.......Cant' make up my mind

  5. FIRENZE

    PISA

    ROMA

    BOLOGNA

    SIENA

    PERUGIA

    FERRARA

    MILANO

    TORINO

    VENEZIA

    TRIESTE

    NAPOLI

    BRESCIA

    VERONA

    GENOVA

    VITERBO

    CAMERINO

    MACERATA

    CIAO CIAO

  6. the best place is france because its beautiful city with a bunch of places to learn french

  7. The most beautiful place that I have been to in Italy is the Isle of Capri.  I can assure you that there are no schools on the isle though.

But, I have heard that Florence is goregous.

  8. I'd say Florence, especially if you want to study the language, because in Florence people speak "standard" Italian, while in other cities they speak local dialects or have a particular accent which can be harder for you to learn (in Florence people do have an accent as well, but I wouldn't call it unintelligible). And of course it is an amazing city, even though there's not much to do at night.

  9. Firenze, my home town that I regrettably left for hot and depressing  California.

Firenze if just amazing, from the food to the art to the history.....

Also, in my opinion, the best italian is spoken there.

    Ciao e buon divertimento!

  10. I personally adore Rome, its full of people and a great place to see with so many famous coultural buildings ect..

Id say try there, many things to do so many oppostunities to learn new things.

If you trouble getting through there will be atleast one English person to help you.. also avoid places where crime is high.

There are many shops, and the weather is nice and the roads are big!!

I want to do the same thing as you, tell me how it goes and if learnign the language abroad is easy!!

Do you know italian even a bit or going clean? Let me know!

    Good luck! :)

  11. Siena. I studied abroad there for four months. its a small, beautiful and friendly town. its only an hour away from florence and 3 hours from rome. go to koppa kabbana on via di rossi. its the best gelato that i  have tried so far.

  12. If you are looking for art, beautiful architecture, etc., Florence is amazing! Also has great shopping if you are interested in gold and leather.

  13. I'd pick Florence...

  14. Rome...i'm from Rome and it's the best city in Italy.

  15. I am leaving in 10 days to study in Viterbo. I have heard nothing but great things. I can let you know how it is when I get there.

  16. Venice is more beautiful than you can imagine.  See it before it sinks into the Adriatic. I wouldn't study the language there though.  The Venetian dialect, while it has its literature (Goldoni!) and is perfectly lovely in its way, is strangely like Spanish; and other Italians (They can be rough on one another) say it sounds like "cats meowing."  I myself studied, immersion style, six months in Italy; first three months at the Università per Stranieri at Perugia, then three months at Siena, and I'm glad I did.  I picked up a fairly pure, standard Tuscan.  For your purposes, I'd recommend Florence and/or Rome.

  17. florence or sienna
