  1. Clapham Junction in South London is pretty near to number one.

  2. i fink its indian railways.....spans the whole a' india

  3. As far as comuter trains and public transportation go i have not a clue, but my guess would be a large european city.

But as an overall complicated mess of both passenger and freight moving about, im gonna put  a vote  in for the greater chicagoland region.

We have serveral freight companies ( UP, CN,CP,BNSF, Belt RR, IHB RR, Raillink just off the top of my head) all using each other tracks, engines and yards, plus amtrack and local trains (southshore). Its a logistic headache for the most part as companies use diferent rules and soemtimes off the wall signals( the IHB RR comes to mind )(norac for most em but the UP uses general code), Now add to this all the mills and shipping industries that have their own smaller scale in house rail service( like Inland steel), time tables, scheduling, cranky dispatchers, mechanical failure, outside influences, and that alot of freight going  from east  to west or vice versa  has to cross the chicago system at some point; makes me say that it has to be one of the most complicated rail networks in north america if not the whole world.

  4. Railways in Great Britain, with so many companies running the railways, I think it more complicated that any other ?

So complicated that sometime it seem not to work, well some people opinion may be that it has not.
