To me, a work of art is only a work of art if it evokes a strong emotion.  Otherwise it's just a thing.

Does it make you FEEL? It doesn't matter if its abstract, a photograph or what not. If it doesn't make you feel anything, it's not art.

The artist who does it, without them there is no art. It is what they choose to place there on that canvas or paper or screen; their thoughts. their beliefs, their energy and their perspective. Its their taking of anything and reinterpreting it through themselves that becomes what you see.
