  1. JKD or shaolin

  2. Kung Fu:  It encompasses so many different practices like wushu, wing chun, Chinese boxing, that it really produces a well rounded martial artists regardless if the fighter's goal is self defense or sport.

FYI, even though Hong Kong is China's island city now, when Jeet Kun Do was developed, Hong Kong was a British protectorate, so  JKD could be considered  English art.

  3. in my oppion it is hung gar

  4. Se-lat!

To be honest I am not sure if it is Chinese, or even the most powerful.

But I took it for awhile and it is definitely not your average defense.

In fact it was not much defense at all, except for one move.

You make your first defense, and then you move in for severe bone crushing, without any mercy.

Seems like a kill or be killed type of martial art.

I could not handle it at my age,it was pretty hard on the body, but for more fit people I think it would be great.

  5. The best solution is to learn from the best fighters/masters of any style and you would be better off than learning the best style under an average instructors/fighter.

Having said that, it is hard to pin point the most powerful chinese martial art, because it depends on both the martial art and the man combination, so sometimes you will see champions of different styles win at different times.

Some of the most powerful styles are the 3 internal styles of T'ai Chi Ch'uan, Xíngyìquán and Bāguàzhǎng. and other styles such as southern praying mantis, choylayfut, wingchun, shaolin and it's animal style of kung fu.

But finding a great master who is a great fighter is very rare these days. But when you find one, they are extremely dangerous. Especiallly if they are on top of their game, say...9th degree red belt.

  6. powerful? or violent? 2 totally different things. but if you mean effectively violent i'd say karate.

  7. Nearly all of them are a like, to say one is more powerful or better than the others would be impossible. One of the other answers said that JKD would be the most powerful, however while JKD is awesome it is not an art, it is the philosophy that one should train in multiple styles to become a well rounded martial artist.

  8. Actually Jeet Kune Do was developed in the United States and Bruce Lee was influenced by both Western Boxing and Wrestling.  So one could even say that JKD is an American martial art?

    What say others?

  9. Tai Chi Chuan, the Yang style, because it relies entirely on the laws of Physics, and you can not fight physics.  Any movement your body makes, if the Tai Chi Chuan expert is touching you, they can use that movement against you.  It is the most powerful art, because all other martial arts rely on agressive force even when defending whereas Tai Chi, relies on "passive" force, or blending with any kind of agressive movement, to throw an opponent off balance.  How do you defeat a martial art, designed to use ANY  move you make, in accordance to the laws of physics?

Yang Lu Chan, established himself as the greatest martial artist China had ever seen, its the whole reason the Yang style of Tai Chi has been so widely practiced, while other styles of Kung Fu nearly died out.  It is not a question of me "thinking" its the most powerful; if you talk to an actual expert in Chinese martial arts, even a modern Shaolin monk, they would agree with me.  Tai Chi, is the most powerful form of Kung Fu there is, because of the way the masters rely on physics, and because of the art's emphasis on focus, a genuine master of the art, or genuine masters, are reputed to have impregnable defenses.

    Hope that helps.

    Peace out.

  10. No martial art is inherently powerful or not powerful...

One may only be skilled or not ...

Really what you want to know depends on the teacher, if he knows, and if he can teach. And if the student can learn, and practices.

There are many styles or methods of training, but only one physics, and only one human body.

That's what Bruce Lee tried to tell people with "jeet kun do", yet people still make the mistake of treating that like a style and saying it's "better than others"...

Any style - if it has good skills, a good teacher, and a good student, is better than any other style, if the teacher , student, or skills is not as good

There is only one human body, and only one physics, and only one gravity.

That all said, I would say internal martial arts are the prized gem of Chinese culture.

The original internal martial artists (e.g. Yang Tai Chi Chuan) were known for being undefeated and the top masters in all of china (if not the world)
