  1. I did 3,005 squats in one night, nonstop, so I know how you feel. Cold water is best. When lactic acid builds up in sore muscles, the cold water breaks it down. Hot water relaxes, so if taking a shower, switch from hot to cold every minute. If taking a bath, put  lots of ice in the warm water. Hope this helps!

  2. Warm water but not for long.

  3. cold water, why do you think there are things called ice baths that many athletes take after a very hard workout, practice, or game

The theory behind the ice bath is that your muscles constrict and the bloodflow is diverted to your deeper muscles close to the bone to keep them safe in the extreme temperature. When you take your leg or body out of the ice bath, fresh blood rushes through that does not have any of the chemicals released by your muscles as you ripped and tore them during exercise, such as lactic acid. This speeds up the healing process.

  4. Warm, definitely warm. As warm as you can go, actually - it's the heat that really helps sore muscles. If you soak in cold water while your muscles are all tensed and sore, it's not going to accomplish much. The cold just makes your body tense up even more. Besides - a nice long soak in warm water just feels good, anyway. :)

  5. Hot for muscles and joints. Whether a bath or topical.

Plus the buoyancy of the water helps reduce the tension on the sore muscles.

  6. ACTUALLY BOTH BUT OF COURSE NOT AT THE SAME TIME..
