Which is the nearest railway stataon to Darjeeling? and how to reach there?

Depends on how you want to get there. Siliguri is the closest town which has botha  statn and an airport (Baghdogra) slightly outside the town. Siliguri is also connected to the main railway line.

However if you want to take the train up to Darjeeling (which is highly recommended) then you have to take it from New Jalpaiguri, also close to Siliguri town. This is a narrow guage line and the train feels like a toy train.

darjeeling has its own cute quaint station where the toy train arrives & departs from. but yes, during monsoons the train doesn't run. so if u can avoid the rainy season & go to darjeeling, u must travel by the train, its an experience by itself.

The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, nicknamed the "Toy Train", is a 60 cm narrow-gauge railway from Siliguri to Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal, run by the Indian Railways.

It was built between 1879 and 1881 and is about 86 km long. The elevation level is from about 100 m in Siliguri to about 2200 m in Darjeeling. It is still to this day powered by a steam engine. A modern diesel engine is used for Darjeeling’s mail.

Since 1999 the train has been a World Heritage Site as listed by UNESCO. In 2005, UNESCO added the Nilgiri Mountain Railway as an extension to the original site.
