  1. Siena is my favorite city.  It is south of Florence in Tuscany.  It is especially great around the Palio, a medieval style horse race.

  2. im 100 percent italian and its definetly rome or abrutzi

  3. florence and near by toscan region is great..san geminiano

  4. Naples

  5. Venice is uniquely nice!

  6. Florence is very nice.  And full of history!

  7. For the history and sites, it would be Rome.  For sheer beauty and a relaxing feel, I would pick Florence.  It all depends on what you are looking for in a nice city.

  8. I don't know how you can pick any city as the "nicest" as they all have advantages.  Here are some of my thoughts:

Venice:  The best city for peacefulness - no cars, trucks, traffic noise - and for romance (even without a gondola ride, which is very expensive now, walks along the canals are beautiful!)

Florence:  Great for shopping, art museums, and history

Rome:  Beautiful photos, religion, history (the shopping is not the best, but some good stores can be found)

Genoa:  Wonderful - but you have to know where you're going. It appears to be industrial at first look, but the city center is very unique! The outskirts of the city (Nervi, Boccadasse) are perfect for walks along the coastline/cliffs.

    Sarzana:  Fantastic medieval castle!

Cinque Terre:  Unbelieveable views - and great wine!  But wear good walking shoes - there are a lot of hills to walk up and down.

Asiago:  In the mountains - beautiful little town with some shopping and great photos.

There are a lot of other smaller towns that are all unique - I'd visit them all if I could!

  9. For my money it has to be Rome. It seems to have everything - the ancient sites, the beautiful little piazzas, a whole range of cuisines - It's the whole of Italy in one city.  Of course Venice is unique but I think I would tire of the place after a while - it is too picture postcard and also you see more foreigners than Italians, at least in the summer months.

  10. i like parma cuz its where i was born, but a big city i would agree on florence!
