  1. Well, in my car, it is in the back because the impact of the airbag may be to powerful (I have side airbags at the back), and although they say its safer in the back, if you crash, what if a car goes up your back and hits you?

I think it depends on the car you have really. On my car, you can turn the airbags off, for if you have a small child in the front. It explains this stuff in my manual, maybe you should look at yours, or download one online.

  2. The middle is the best,,,one side or the other ,if hit could cause damage to the child..

The safest way is in the middle which increases the safety zone.

If there are only two seat belts in the back seat that are for one side or the other,,,,then you can use one from one side and the other from the other side to make a seat belt for the middle.......

Now if the front seat has no middle,,say two bucket seats,,

then if it was a head on then if the child where to come out then the child could fly into the dash, instead of the seat in front of them,,,,,, so take this into consideration ,,,,

The passenger side is 2% better just because most of the time if your in a one lane highway most of the traffic is on the driver side, or a two lane and you always drive in the far right..

I hope this gives you a little insight.....

  3. Hopefully you mean in a booster seat and not just the seatbelt? A 5 year old is NOT ready to be in just a seatbelt.

As for which side - doesn't matter one bit. Ideally, if you have a lap/shoulder belt in the middle position, that is best. But if the middle is lap belt only, the only thing you can put there is a harnessed car seat. Drivers/passenger side offer the same protection. The only way to say one is safer is to look into the future and see what side you'd be hit on in an accident - since you can't do that, it doesn't matter which side.

  4. in the middle is the best becuse if another car hits u in teh back door your 5years old can get hurt more then sitting in the middle in the back. teh middle is also safer then the driver seet or passenger seat.

  5. Either side is fine, but if the child is in the passenger side, at least you can glance back and check on him/her.

  6. The middle is best if possible but otherwise, both sides pose an equal risk (normally)

  7. At five a child definitely still needs to be using a booster or a harnessed seat.  If a harnessed seat, center if you can get a solid install.  If a booster, center if the booster fits AND you have a lap/shoulder belt in that seating position.  If in a booster, and only a lap belt, then it must be in an outboard seat.  Either side is equally safe.

  8. The middle of the back seat is the safest part of any vehicle.

  9. behind the passenger seat normally. The safest place is behind the lightest person in the front seat, in case the seat supports break in an accident.

  10. i think the center for some reason. that why they have that divider thing and that why car seats fit in the center better. you can allso see your child beter in the center.

  11. uhm...either or. the child is all around safer in the back seat regardless.

  12. If there are three seats in the back, then it would be the center seat. If there are only two, I don't think it makes much of a difference but more side collisions happen on the left than on the right because of the possibility of a car coming over from the opposite lane. In which case I would but the child in the passenger side.
