  1. The entire city is safe. Really. If you want unsafe, go to Mexico City, Baghdad or Johannesburg.

There are certainly more desireable areas of the city: The Westside (Kitsilano, Kerrisdale, Shaughnessy, Point Grey, Marpole, Southlands, Mackenize Heights, False Creek, South Granville) are all very livable. Downtown Vancouver (West End, Yaletown, Coal Harbour) are all very safe and near the water. The Downtown Eastside (DES) is the worst area of the city and should be avoided. Everywhere else, it is just fine.

Crime does seem to occur around Skytrain stations between Main Street-Chinatown to about Metrotown. But even that is not that bad compared to other major cities around the world.

  2. Probably West Vancouver, if you can afford it.

  3. I live in West Vancouver, and its true it is very safe, but really expensive.  And you cant get hit by falling rocks.

I would say Bowen Island is the safest-although not technically part of vancouver.

Anywhere in the Westside of town is pretty safe.

  4. Vancouvers crime rate has risen sharply it has become the crime ridden city in Canada. Drugs all drugs smuggling and drug using. Gangs. Where would i live definately west Van.

  5. Champlain Heights is a really nice area its close to almost everything....its close to schools, libraries, 2 huge parks (Central Park &Everett Crowley) pools, malls (Metrotwon is 5min away...which is the 2nd largest mall in Canada =D) plus its not a super expensive area...its located on the south slope just off of Boundary Rd. its generally a safe area....it has lots of housing plus co-ops/townhomes...it generally has families with kids in the area. its a gorgeous and quite are to live !!! =D

  6. We live in Burnaby its safe & reasonable  West vancouver is Expensive

  7. i would say south delta, like ladner area or tsawwassen... lots of suburbs and beach on either side, no one really goes around there but its still like 20 minutes away from downtown

  8. Stay away from areas near to a Skytrain Station.  Stay out of East Van altogether.  West Van is very expensive.  Crime is lower there, but it is very hilly, and you can get hit by falling rocks.  Ladner might be just the spot, though.  Unless there is a flood.
