  1. finches are the smallest canaries not a great deal bigger cockatiels ar the biggest but make great pets if tame & some can even talk

  2. cockatiel is the biggest i think but there a discent size i guess i have one uuuuuummm canary, parakeet, then finches are small  and you cant really  take finches out of there cages

  3. get a parakeet they r super small and dont grow

  4. Cockatiels are the biggest at about 12" in length, followed by Parakeets at about 5-6" and then Canaries at about 3-4" and Finches at about 2-3" in length.

    Why the rush?

  5. Ok finches and canaries arent parakeets. They aren't parrots. Theyre finches.

Parrots are different from other families of birds because they have a hooked beak, and have 4 toes- two which go backwards and two which go forwards.

The only parrot listed is the cockatiel, which is the largest of the four birds. Cockatiels are small sized parrots, they are larger than a budgie but smaller than cockatoos, and some of the conures, etc.

There are many different species of Finch you can buy as a pet- some grow bigger than others but they are all tiny birds. Canaries are similar in size. They may be larger than some of the Finches- it depends on what type you are looking at to buy.

If you want a good, hardy parrot as a pet than the Cockatiel is a good choice. They are playful, friendly, cheeky, can be trained to talk, they will live for over 20 years if well cared for, and are great beginner birds for future parrot enthusiasts. If you can, buy a handraised Cockatiel- its a little more expensive but you get a much better pet if you put the time into it.

Male canaries are very good singers, but the females only chirp- but they are popular beginner birds.

Finches are very pretty little birds and are popular as pets and aviary birds- you should consider buying a pair if you do choose to buy a finch. Hope this helps

  6. The finch is the smallest.  It's get to be about the size of a thumb

Canary is the next size it gets to about 5 inches

Cockatiel gets to about 12 inches head to tail feather

As for which to get as a pet.  The first two (finch/carnary) are aviary birds and not for handling.   People that get them get them to watch and listen to.  But, they are not the kind of bird that you take out and play with.

The cockatiel makes a wonderful companion that will hang out on your shoulder and spend time with you for hours.  Make sure that if you get a cockatiel that is handfed so that you don't have to tame it.  If you are not experienced with taming cockatiels it is not the easiest task.

  7. The finch will be the smallest.  Why don't you wait to get one until you know a little bit more about each type of bird?  They will all have different needs and provide you with different levels of companionship.  There should be no rush in buying a pet, it's not fair to the animal :(
