  1. If you removed the insects from your animal description (or other unicellular organisms), the smallest vertebrate animal on Earth would be the Paedocypris micromegethes (the Bornean species). A very tiny fish...

  2. my self

  3. The problem here is that we answer so many questions with improper spelling that most of us have interpreted your question to be about animals, whereas, I believe the correct answer here addresses the word, "anima"

    an·i·ma  (n-m)

    n.

    1. The inner self of an individual; the soul.

    2. In Jungian psychology:

    a. The unconscious or true inner self of an individual, as opposed to the persona, or outer aspect of the personality.

    b. The feminine inner personality, as present in the unconscious of the male. It is in contrast to the animus, which represents masculine characteristics.

So, don't keep us in suspense...is it "animal" or "anima"??

  4. Animal would be classified as belonging to the Kingdom Animalia.  So the winer would be Megaphragma caribea measuring in at 0.17mm in length and the smallest known insect on the planet.  Of course it is only a matter of time until something smaller is discovered.

  5. Anima is the inerself, the soul or the spirit of a person or a living creature, it is not a body, therefore an attempt to know something which can not be measured would be quite problematic.

Your question requires the use of a physical standard on an imaterial concept.

  6. maybe an ant

  7. I am not a animal research sciencist

  8. if you define animal as respiring and reproducing and entropic, ie a consumer, then you'd have to say bacteria prokaryotes are the smallest animal

  9. Depends on how you define animal. The world's smallest mammal is the bumblebee bat of Thailand. It weighs less than a penny. The fish described in the link bellow is the world's smallest vertebrate. The amoeba (2nd link below), as far as I know, is the smallest member of the animal kingdom. However, this question is better posed to a biology section, unless you are trying to see how many anthropologists don't know squat about animals...

  10. Insect.

  11. bugs

  12. Virus is known as the smallest creature in the world.
