Which is the worst train franchise in the whole country?

I will go for first capital connect. They are a total shower, promised all manner of upgrades when they took over from WAGN in 2006 and have simply removed more services and upped ticket prices. They frequently delay services and cancel them after a long wait, with another hour wait for a bus replacement! Best company? Merseyrail- Never late, in the three years I used em! Top-class

I would suggest the Northern franchise, mainly because it is full of Yorkshiremen.  lol.

The worst is easily FCC, followed by SWT. I would have to say the Northern franchises I know nothing about, but I think it is a big fix when ATOC put out that Island Line is the best franchise.

A very good question!

I would agree with you and say First Capital Connect, but it used to be Connex.

To this day I do not know why FCC seem to run their trains with delays, and when I used to see the control logs I could nether find the reason why FCC were running late.

And another thing that annoys me about FCC is that they claim to be opening new stations on their line, but they did not even build them & it was apart of Network Rails plans to replace XY & Z stations and build new ones way before FCC came along

I think the whole railway service has become dreadful since that disastrous privatisation the Tory's lumbered us with. If they'd subsidised BR as much as they're subsidising these private con men we'd have had a marvellous service by now.

Prices are astronomical and outrageous. It's MUCH cheaper for me to drive on my own from the north of England to London and back in an 1800cc car than take the train especially if I have to travel at short notice. How is that supposed to encourage me to leave the car at home? My son flies from Bristol to Newcastle when he comes home because it's a lot cheaper than the train-and a good deal quicker as well.

Everyone should ride one just to experiance a nice train journey.

Central trains.    they boasted about IMPROVING the service to 82% arriving within 30 minutes of advertised times!!!    think what the service was like before the improvements.  i actually moved house and took a 40% drop in salary so i would not have to use this company ever again!!!!    They also added 10 minutes to the Nottingham to Skegness service and still only managed 85% success!!!!!

One of the best, IMHO, is Midland Main Line.

One of the worst is London Eastern Railway, need to get a lot better, may be Central is a little worst than that.

I do not think the end of British Railway & now, with mostly bus / coach company's with the franchise's, is good for the railways.

the whole franchise is bad innit, my train line is the fenchurch street line which is one of the worst in the country

Dont know about worse Train Franchise, one of the best, must be c2c, from Fenchurch st to Southend/ shoeburyness every time i use them, always on time, good value tickets
