I was talking to a friend who said the practice tests was a lot harder than the real thing so I'm curious to know. If you have already taken the psat before what did you think was harder?

  2. If I'm reading your question correctly, you're asking about the difference between practice PSATs and actual PSATs.  The answer is that it depends on the student.

If you perform well in high pressure situations, you will probably find the real test to be "easier" than the practice tests.  On the other hand, if you are an anxious test taker, you will probably think the real exam is more difficult.

In your practice, use released tests from the College Board (test makers).  These will be actual PSATs that were administered several years ago.  The difficulty level of official tests is carefully examined to make sure each test is as difficult as all others, so your practice tests should be exactly as difficult as your real test.

Do not use prectice tests or problems that are created by test-prep specialists for study guides or books.  These are not official test questions, and may vary in difficulty compared to official exams.  This may be why your friend noticed a difference in the difficulty of the real test.

  3. My PSAT was 500 points lower than my SAT, but that's only because I studied my rear off for the SAT. I got a 2050 on the SAT and you could easily deduce my PSAT score. SAT is all about practice. Don't practice with the PSAT, unless your going to take it and your looking for scholarships. Otherwise, I highly suggest you to start studying for the actual SAT, because that is what is going to count for your college admissions process.

  4. My PSAT score was lower than the SAT.  I wouldn't say one is harder than the other, but because the psat is shorter, missing one has a bigger impact than missing one on the SAT.
