Congratulations on kicking the habit.  I too am an ex-smoker (my photo is 3 years old, but didn't I look d**n cool).  I don't think that quitting smoking is necessarily a measure of self-control.  We all have different levels of addiction and different levels of withdrawal associated to quitting.  I quit because I really, really wanted to and I think that that is exactly what it says about a person---That they either really do or really don't want to quit smoking.  Although self-control is a big help to many people in their quest to quit smoking.

As far as "A VP whose daughter is a s**t?"  I assume that you are talking about Sarah Palin's unwed pregnant daughter.  Palin's daughter's personal life in any case does nothing better or worse for America.

Both worries are irrelevant.  Stick to the issues and decide which is the ticket that includes candidates that best reflect your personal philosophies, values and beliefs and you will pick the best candidate for you.
