If blood pressure reading is more than 40pts differeny in systolic and diastolic, is it worse to be less or more ? As an example, would it be worse to have a reading of 150/140 or 160/110 ?

  1. any diastolic above 100 is bad news

  2. probably higher

  3. The former would be considerably worse, not to mention really weird.

Just as an aside, mean arterial pressure can be estimated as twice the systolic+diastolic/3, so even using that, which underestimates how much worse the diastolic elevation is, 150/140 averages to about 147 and 160/110 to about 143.
