  1. This depends greatly on the efficiency of your water heater and the source of your water (city or private well or natural spring, etc)  All of these things effect both the "waste" of water and the amount of energy required to provide hot water.

    From another angle, are you assigning more moral power to conversation of personal funds (i.e. how much it will cost you) or cost to the system and environment as a whole?

    to respond to your latest clarification; generally a hot shower would "waste" more energy.  Simply taking a longer shower (if cold) doesn't cause water to cease to exist. Water treatment plants are fairly efficient in terms of energy cost per gallon (or cubic foot) of water processed and "cleaned." The best solution is to keep the set temperature on your water heater as low as tolerable so that you aren't wasting energy keeping the water hot even when you're not using it.


  2. for me it depends on the weather out side if it is summer hot is worse and vise versa  but most of the time i perfer a hot shower

  9. It depends on the horizontal axis! Furthermore, what temperature are you talking about. Lastly, do you want coleslaw or a beverage with that?

  11. I would want 10 minutes in cold water, because the hot water would burn but the cold is harmless.
