Question:

Which island in the carribean is cheaper to fly to from Illinois?

I am planning a wedding in the Carribean. My first thought was the bahamas. Then, I searched Jamaica and Antigua. I am just wondering if it is cheaper to fly to one island rather than the other. All three have basic wedding packages that im sure would be great.

Also, which has cheaper all inclusive resorts to stay at?

Can anyone help me > thanks!

  1. We live in Wisconsin and always travel out of O'Hare.  We have always booked out vacations  through a travel agent because it can save you a lot of money.

Usually it is cheaper to go all inclusive.  Then you can eat as much as you want and drink as much alcohol as you want.  Otherwise, you can run out of money relatively quickly if you are buying as you go.

Through a travel agent, we stayed at Dream Punta Cana (before was known as Sunscape Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic)  With out flight, hotel, all-inclusive, transfers to and from the airport for 7 nights and 8 days was around 1200 per person.

obviously there are many more options than that.  Have fun planning your dream wedding.

  2. You should probably check with a travel agent, since you have lots of variables here.

You could also go to one of the major travel websites and find out what the airfare is to the different islands, or to look for package deals.  [e.g. Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz, Kayak, VacationsToGo]

There are also companies that put together trips to the Caribbean, e.g. Apple Vacations, Cheap Caribbean and many others.  Check their websites.

The Bahamas would probably be relatively cheap because they're not that far from Florida.  Islands like Aruba and Jamaica and the Dominican Republic have AI's and major airports [relatively speaking].  USVI don't have many AI's but they have lots of flights.

You could check TripAdvisor.com to get feedback from past guests about resorts all over the Caribbean [and the world].

Good luck and congratulations on your upcoming marriage.
