Which items are permitted in hand luggage?

electronics are fine, but secuirty may ask you to turn them on to show that it is real.  They will also scan them (don't worry their scanners won't harm anything).  

Liquids/gels/creams etc are allowed as long as they are individual sized bottles of 3 oz or less, and all bottles brought must be in 1 one quart clear ziplock style bag.  Any beverages for the plane MUST be bought once you are through security already.
