Which itunes version do I need for my ipod?

I would like to know which version is compatible with my 80GB Ipod Classic, I upgraded itunes to the latest one (7.7.1) and now my ipod is not working properly, lock icon appears when ipod is unlocked, I think the new itunes is not compatible with my computer or with my ipod, not sure, I have Windows XP SP2, what can I do to fix my ipod? Please give any ideas. Thanks in advance.

  1. Oh yeah you need the 7.7.0.43 its the one i have and it works perflectly for my ipod....


  2. I have the same Ipod and operating system and upgraded to the latest without any problems.  Did you download thru iTunes or direct from apple.com?  I've had problems with the downloads thru iTunes so I only go direct.
